Update on Erin's Trial
Erin Kuhn who is accused of
murdering her niece and niece's unborn baby, has been extradited to
Nevada and is still awaiting trial. Trial is now scheduled for Fall of
this year. Erin has been in contact with classmate Becki (Nelson)
Watters who reports that although Erin is depressed she is growing close
to God and finding comfort there. Through Becki, Erin has issued
the following statement:
"To the Class of 1987....I
know many of you are aware of the horrible situation I am in. The
stories presented by the media depict what they hope to sell--not the
truth. I have not given any formal statement for the media, and so
the story they are reporting is their own. I am unable to go into any
detail at my attorney's instruction. My family has retained two lawyers
who specialize in criminal law, Todd Young & Michael Roscer. I would
ask for your prayers and support. I think about our class graduation day
singing "Side by Side" on the lawn outside the gym. It brings
tears to my eyes to remember our happy and carefree years at SPA. If I
had not had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ while growing up,
I would not have anything to base my continued existence on now. Jesus
is here for me and, thankfully, can visit me anytime, 24/7. I struggle
emotionally and cry throughout each and every day here in jail. This is
the worst experience of my life! If anyone feels empowered to write, I
would love to write back. I will keep the class posted with my upcoming
trial. Please pray for me!
Lovingly your classmate, Erin"
Erin can be reached at the
following address. Note that Erin can only receive letters on
plain paper; no cards, stickers, photos, etc. Also, because the
trial is still pending and her mail is sometimes opened, matters
relating directly to the case should be avoided. Erin needs
encouragement and prayers from all her friends.

Travels
Julie (Miller) and Dan Casey traveled
4444 miles across 8 states in 12 days on their National Parks Road Trip in
September. In addition to marveling at the varied topography they experienced
vastly different weather conditions. During the first few days of
the trip it was over 100 degrees in Utah, but just a couple of days later,
in Wyoming, they got hit by a record snowstorm. The only disappointing
part of the trip was not getting to see more of Yellowstone because of the
snow. The left Column contains a sampling of pictures from the
Casey's trip. Click on them for a larger view.
In February, Laura (Joseph) and Bill
Hoffman traveled to The People's Republic of China. Bill and Laura's
company, Public Health Research Laboratories will be conducting a training
course for government health workers and other international students at
the Jangsu Institute of Parasitic Diseases. The institute is in the city
of Wuxi, approximately two hours from Shanghai. Laura also reports
that she was recently hired with the Camellia Symphony Orchestra in
Sacramento. She says they are a great orchestra to perform
with. Additionally, other music opportunities are coming now that
she and Bill are more established in Northern |

Private Ceremony
On Friday, March 9th, at a chapel in the
seaside village of Carmel, April Bennett and boyfriend Craig Jann were wed
in a private ceremony. The couple decided that after four years the
time was right, but did not want an elaborate wedding. The
newlywed's do plan to have a small reception at April's parents' house in
May. If April and Craig had only done this sooner, the Editor would be
$50.00 richer! |
